Discover the youngest castle in the region, which is still in excellent condition and ready to welcome visitors!
Located in the centre of Szerencs, the Rákóczi Castle is the youngest castle in the region, built at the end of the 16th century. Despite its relatively late construction in historical terms, it remains an important landmark of the Zemplén region’s cultural heritage and a defining feature of the townscape of Szerencs.
Today, part of the building houses the rich collection of the Zemplén Museum, which presents the history, cultural traditions, and local heritage of the region. Visitors can thus not only experience the atmosphere of a historic castle, but also gain insight into the past of Zemplén, closely connected to the development of the surrounding settlements and the Tokaj wine region.
