Tokaj Tokaj-Hegyalja for Explorers - 5 DAYS
Day 1 - Szerencs, Tarcal és Mád
Located in the centre of Szerencs, Rákóczi Castle is the youngest fortress in the region, built at the end of the 16th century. Today, part of the building houses the collection of the Zemplén Museum, offering visitors insight into the cultural and historical heritage of the area.
Start on foot from the heart of Tarcal and hike up to the Christ the Saviour statue, where a breathtaking view opens up over the Tokaj wine region. At the summit, it is not only the panorama that awaits, but also the powerful feeling of arrival itself. The route continues toward the turquoise waters of the Tarcal Quarry Lake, where the closeness of nature and deep silence provide a perfect ending to the experience.
One of Hungary’s most beautiful synagogues stands in the centre of Mád, preserved in excellent condition and open to visitors. The adjacent rabbi’s house can also be visited, where the former residence of the rabbi offers an additional glimpse into the site’s historical and cultural heritage.
Day 2 - Hungarian National Blue Trail
A warm-up one-day hike on a 17 km section of the Blue Trail between Nagy-Nyugodó (Sátoraljaújhely) and Nagyhuta, in a magical setting through beautiful villages. If you haven’t started yet, the Zemplén is the perfect place to fall in love with the Blue Trail!
Day 3 - Boldogkőváralja, Monok és Hercegkút
An exhibition commemorating all the key milestones of his life and work has been set up in his birthplace. In the cellar of the house, there is a wine-making exhibition, while temporary exhibitions can be viewed in the courtyard wing.
Day 4 - In the Footsteps of the Miracle Rabbis along the Miracle Rabbis Trail
Day 5 - Füzér, Sátoraljaújhely
The Bridge of National Unity is truly one of a kind—not only in Hungary, but outstanding even on a global scale. It is located in the Zemplén Adventure Park, where it’s well worth spending an entire day for both children and adults. Chairlifts, a cable car, a climbing wall center, a bobsleigh track, extreme zip lines, playgrounds, an adventure course, a tourist hostel, a lookout tower, and a canopy walkway all await visitors.
