Program Package 3 days exploring the region – in search of flavours, experiences, and culture

Gastronomic programs, wine experiences, and cultural discoveries along a three-day itinerary.

The three-day itinerary presents the diverse world of Tokaj-Hegyalja through an experience-based route. The program is built around the region’s characteristic gastronomic and cultural values: handmade craft experiences, Tokaj flavours, city walks, wine experiences, and historical sites all play an important role. The focus is on discovering local experiences, the atmosphere of the wine region, and showcasing the cultural heritage of the area.

Day 1: Craft experiences, a Tokaj walk, and a wine dinner

The first day begins in Szerencs, where the Interactive Workshop offers insight into the world of handmade chocolates and bonbons. The program presents the region’s gastronomic traditions in a playful and experiential way, offering a light yet distinctive introduction to the flavours of the area.

In the afternoon, the itinerary continues in Tokaj with a guided city walk, where historic streets, riverside atmosphere, and the unique character of the small wine town take centre stage. During the walk, visitors can get closer to the atmosphere and cultural heritage of Tokaj.

The day ends with a Tokaj wine dinner in Fakapu Restaurant, offering the opportunity to explore the pairing of local wines and dishes in a cosy cellar setting. The evening program provides a calm and enjoyable conclusion to the first day.

Day 2: Herbal gardens, local flavours, and an evening cruise in Tokaj

It is recommended to start the second day at Tokaj’s unique herbal garden, where visitors can learn about herbs and medicinal plants grown in the region. The presentation also offers insight into a nature-oriented mindset, local traditions, and the world of health-conscious thinking.

This is followed by a gastronomic experience at Tokaj Ízes Örömest – Lekvárium, where handmade jams and local ingredients showcase the characteristic flavours of the wine region. The program presents traditional tastes in a light yet distinctive way.

The evening is best concluded with a dinner cruise in Tokaj, offering views of the town and its surroundings from the calm waters of the Bodrog River. The riverside setting, evening lights, and dinner together create a memorable end to the day.

Day 3: Rákóczi Castle, vinegar museum, and vineyard experiences

The third day heads towards Sárospatak, where a visit to Rákóczi Castle offers a historical experience. The castle walls, exhibitions, and atmospheric courtyard provide insight into the region’s past and its most important cultural heritage.

In the afternoon, the program continues in Bodrogkeresztúr at the Acetánia Vinegar Museum, where traditional and modern methods of vinegar production can be explored. The program highlights a lesser-known yet fascinating aspect of the wine region’s gastronomy.

The three-day itinerary concludes with a vineyard tour and wine tasting in Hétszőlő, offering the opportunity to explore the vineyards of the wine region. The landscape, expert guidance, and wine tasting together provide a fitting and memorable finale to the program.
