The Tokaj and Zemplén region is an ideal destination for those who want to explore active experiences, natural beauty, cultural attractions, and unique gastronomic programs within just a few days. The following guide presents a suggested itinerary to help you decide the most logical order in which to discover the area’s most exciting locations. The programs can be freely adapted to individual preferences and schedules.

1st Day – Water Adventure and Wine Country Atmosphere

The first day begins with a truly special active experience: the SportOutdoor Szegi Bike & Canoe Tour. This hybrid tour starts in Tokaj with a cycling section passing through Bodrogkisfalud, leading to the Szegi water base, where the group switches to canoes and paddles back to Tokaj along the Bodrog River. The program offers both a sporting challenge and stunning natural scenery. In the late afternoon, it is worth exploring the historic vineyard hills and educational trail of Hétszőlő, followed by a relaxing wine dinner on the Szerelmi Pincesor, where visitors can enjoy the unique atmosphere and wines of the Tokaj wine region.

2nd Day – History and Adrenaline-Filled Experiences

The second day starts with a cultural visit to the restored Rákóczi Castle in Borsi, which presents the legacy of Ferenc Rákóczi II and the history of the region through modern exhibitions. The afternoon is dedicated to active recreation at the Zemplén Adventure Park in Sátoraljaújhely, offering a wide range of attractions including a bobsled track, chairlift, zip lines, and numerous adventure elements for thrill-seekers.

3rd Day – Panoramas, Gastronomy, and Urban Exploration

On the third morning, a lighter hiking tour is recommended from Tokaj towards Tarcal. Along the route, visitors can explore the Tarcali quarry lake, the Saint Teresa Chapel, and the Statue of Christ the King, all offering breathtaking panoramic views over the Tokaj wine region. The afternoon continues with an active exploration of Tokaj town: for culinary experiences, the Bacchus Restaurant or Galuschka Bistro are excellent choices, while coffee lovers and fans of specialty flavors can visit the Tokaj Coffee Roasting Manufactory. The afternoon program may also include a wine tasting on the Szerelmi Pincesor, a boat cruise on the Bodrog River with Tokaj boat tours, a sightseeing ride on the small tourist train, or a visit to the Butterfly and Mineral Exhibition.
