Program Package 2-day easy cycling tour around Tokaj Hill

Cycling routes, water experiences, and wine region stops between Tokaj and Tarcal.

The two-day program focuses on active recreation while connecting the natural, gastronomic, and wine region locations around Tokaj Hill into a diverse experience-based route. Easy cycling sections are complemented by water activities, panoramic stops, wineries, and local specialties, offering a combination of movement, exploration, and relaxation. Thanks to the shorter distances and varied stops, the route can easily be explored at your own pace, whether by traditional bicycle or e-bike.

Day 1: Easy cycling tour around Tokaj Hill

The suggested route starts in Tokaj and circles around Tokaj Hill, passing through stops where the atmosphere of the wine region, nature-based experiences, and local gastronomy continuously alternate. Along the cycling route, shorter breaks, panoramic viewpoints, and wine tasting stops can easily be combined into a full-day experience.

In Tokaj, Halbisztró offers a gastronomic stop before departure or along the route, while the Butterfly and Mineral Exhibition, the World Heritage Wine Museum, and Szerelmi Pince add to the town’s cultural and wine region atmosphere.

The route may continue towards Bodrogkeresztúr, where Lebuj Pincefogadó can provide a relaxing stop between cycling sections. In the village, the Keresztúri Kincsestár, the Stork Protection Center, and the Acetánia Vinegar Museum may also be included in the itinerary, combining nature-focused and cultural experiences.

In the Tarcal area, the Keresztúri cellar row, Szedmák Wine House, the Tarcal quarry lake, Saint Teresa Chapel, and the Christ Blessing statue may serve as panoramic and wine region stops. The Rákóczi Harvest House and the Basilicus Wine Culture Center can offer further opportunities for wine tasting or short breaks along the cycling route.

Bicycle and e-bike rentals are available at several locations for the tour: Tokaji Vízitúra Központ and Kenubázis in Tokaj, Hegyalja Bringa in Tarcal, and Borbringa in the Mád and Tokaj area.

Day 2: On the water and off-road in the Bodrogzug

The second day focuses on the natural world of the Bodrogzug, where water-based and off-road activities reveal the region’s wildlife and landscapes from a different perspective.

The day may begin with the Sportoutdoor Bodrogzug birdwatching program, during which the unique waterways of the Bodrogzug can be explored by canoe. The slow pace and closeness to nature provide an opportunity to observe birdlife and the floodplain landscape in a peaceful setting.

The afternoon program may continue with an off-road vehicle tour around Tokaj, where lesser-known vineyards, dirt roads, and panoramic routes offer an active and experience-focused continuation to the day.
